Many vessels visit certain central ports on a regular basis to carry out vital activities such as bunkering or crew change, but also get some needed spares on board. There are different ways that ship managers can store their spares while waiting for the right opportunity to get them on board. One of these are storage in port, more common is storage at a central location in the continent of purchase or storage locally where the spares are purchased.

This possibility to store in port is a product that we at Trans-it have been developing for some time. There are certain ports that are more attractive for this kind of service than others. The port of Algeciras has been open for this service for some time, and we will roll out the same concept in Singapore, Panama and Houston shortly.
